The three-day event focused on key themes: biometric interoperability, AI-driven visa screening, and cybersecurity in mobility systems. It also showcased new technologies that enhance border efficiency without compromising privacy — including predictive analytics for high-risk passenger detection and blockchain-based document validation.

During the conference, the Geneva Protocol on Digital Mobility was formally adopted. The protocol establishes international guidelines for the secure exchange of visa and identity data among nations, promoting a balance between openness and national security.

Speakers included representatives from the European Commission, the African Union, ICAO, and Interpol, all of whom commended VRC for leading the charge in standardizing global visa operations.

VRC plans to host the next Smart Borders conference in Singapore in 2027, where discussions will expand to include the role of AI ethics and human rights in border management.
