Unlike traditional visa systems that require physical documentation and in-person verification, the DVID allows governments and airlines to instantly authenticate travelers using VRC’s secure blockchain-backed validation protocol. Each visa is stored in the traveler’s VRC account and can be scanned at any border checkpoint, embassy, or airline counter worldwide.
The project’s pilot phase involves 50 participating nations, including Singapore, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, and Kenya. Travelers in the pilot program have already reported a 70% reduction in processing time and near-zero document loss incidents.
According to Dr. Eleanor Shaw, VRC’s Director of Technology, “The DVID marks a major leap toward a borderless, paperless travel experience. It’s not just a visa—it’s a secure, digital identity that travels with you.”
The initiative will expand globally in 2026, positioning VRC as a pioneer in the digital transformation of international mobility.
